Giving and Getting Involved
We invite you to explore this section to learn more about the many ways you can make a meaningful impact on St. Alban's Episcopal Day School and its students.
This section provides information on charitable giving programs, answers commonly asked questions, and offers easy ways for you to support the school. St. Alban's is what it is today because of the parents, grandparents, alumni, trustees, friends, foundations and corporations who have extended their helping hands over the years. As we move forward to meet the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, we hope you will continue this strong independent school tradition of charitable giving that makes it all possible.
Thank you for your continuing support!
Best regards,
Leonor Carrosquilla, Director of Development
Annual Fund
At independent schools tuition alone does not cover the full cost of educating students each year. St. Alban's episcopal Day School is no exception. The annual fund provides the school with the essential operating dollars that bridge the gap between our tuition and endowment income and the full cost of providing a quality education for our students.
Capital Campaign
While the annual fund supports the operating needs of the school for a given year, capital campaigns raise dollars to construct new facilities, renovate existing buildings, and build our endowment. Currently, St. Alban's is undergoing a strategic planning process to assess its major facility needs. From this process, a new capital campaign will emerge that will address our greatest strategic priorities.
Endowment Funds
A percentage of endowment income is combined with tuition revenue and annual fund gifts to run the school on a day-to-day basis. A strong endowment produces greater income for operating support, thereby providing improved facilities and equipment, the establishment of new programs and curriculum and a larger percentage of scholarship funding.
Planned Giving
As families plan for their financial futures, they often look for ways to increase their tax savings, help a parent or grandparent provide for retirement, or reduce the size of a taxable estate. A planned gift to St. Alban's can help families achieve these goals while leaving a legacy at the school that will enhance the support for facilities, endowment, or school programs.

956-428-2326St. Alban's account number must be present on all deliveries. The donor should notify the Development Office before or when the transfer is made so that the office can get accurate stock prices on the date of transfer for the donor's official tax deducitble amount. It is very important to identify yourself as a stock donor and name the purpose of the gift because electronic stock transfers do not include that information.
6. Make an In-Kind Gift: A gift in-kind is a non-cash tangible gift or a gift of service. Some parents choose to donate various items or equipment that may be useful to the School's educational program. All in-kind gifts may be coordinated with the Office of Development.
Back to Top of Page An enriching and rewarding experience at St. Alban's grows out of a shared sense of community founded on partnership, trust, and commitment. St. Alban's active school community offers meaningful individual and group volunteer opportunities for parents and friends of St. Alan's through the following initiatives:
Parents Assistance League (PALS)
This parent-school organization is a vital part of St. Alban's Episcopal Day School. Volunteers support the mission of the school by working together with faculty, staff and students to create an optimal learning environment and enhance the extracurricular experiences of our students.
Questions? Please contact Ivette Connell, PALS 2008-2009 Board President at 956-428-2305 or iconnell@stalbansharlingen.org
Please click here for further information concerning PALS.
Community Service Day
Community service is an integral part of our mission at St. Alban's. We are committed to teaching students to think outside of themselves and learn to live in Christian service to others. The school provides a number of opportunities for community service including working with the Salvation Army and a variety of other organizations in our local community.
Our annual "Community Service Day" will be held in the spring. It is an opportunity for all students, from two year olds through sixth grade to spend one whole day in service to others.
In celebration of St. Alban's 60th anniversary in the community, this year we will provide more opportunities for our families to volunteer. Check back for more information.
